House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Training Fund) Undertakes Oversight Visit to CPESK
The College for Petroleum and Energy Studies, Kaduna (CPESK), today welcomed members of the House of Representatives - Committee on Petroleum Resources (Training Fund ) on an oversight visit, in line with their statutory mandate to assess the impact and implementation of government-funded programmes.
The delegation, led by the Chairman of the Committee, Rt. Hon. Ereyitomi Thomas, was received by the Executive Secretary of PTDF, Mr. Ahmed Galadima Aminu, alongside members of the Fund’s management team.
The visit provided an opportunity for the lawmakers to gain firsthand insights into CPESK’s infrastructural development, training activities, and the College’s alignment with PTDF’s strategic objectives.
Highlights of the visit included a guided tour of the facility, inspection of ongoing projects, and an interactive session.
In his remarks, the Committee Chairman commended PTDF for its foresight in establishing CPESK as a centre of excellence dedicated to developing critical skills for the Oil and Gas industry. He described the College as a strategic national investment in Human Capital Development.
“We are impressed by the level of infrastructure and the clear, forward-looking vision behind CPESK,” he said. “The accelerated progress witnessed here is a testament to the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whose administration continues to demonstrate patriotic dedication to national development. We also commend the Speaker of the House of Representatives for instituting a specialized committee to focus on key sectoral issues such as this.”
He further expressed his amazement at the scale and quality of the project, noting that such a landmark institution deserves greater visibility. He urged PTDF to intensify efforts in publicizing CPESK and its unique value to the nation’s oil and gas sector.
The visit, he concluded, had reinforced the Committee’s confidence in PTDF’s commitment to enhancing local content and building capacity in the petroleum industry.
Responding, the Executive Secretary expressed gratitude to the Committee for its continued support, reiterating that CPESK is envisioned as a premier hub for training, research, and innovation within the oil and gas industry.
“This College reflects PTDF’s unwavering dedication to developing industry-relevant competencies that will drive Nigeria’s energy sector forward,” he noted. He further stressed that the institutionalization of CPESK as a world-class academic and research facility, will significantly curb capital flight by providing high-quality, home-grown alternatives overseas training and education.
Both parties underscored the importance of sustaining excellence at CPESK and showcasing it as a model institution in Nigeria’s quest for technological advancement and energy sector transformation.
