A delegation from Robert Gordon University (RGU), Aberdeen, paid a courtesy visit to the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) to congratulate the Executive Secretary, Prof. Shuaibu Shehu Aliyu, on his recent appointment and further strengthen the existing collaboration in human capacity development.

The University’s team lead, Vice Principal for Partnerships, Mrs. Donella Beaton, alongside the Head of Partnerships, Mrs. Sarah Hillyear, reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to supporting the  Split-Site PhD Programme at the College of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Kaduna (CPESK).

The engagement also provided an opportunity for both parties to review key aspects of the operational framework for the implementation of the CPESK’s  Split-Site PhD Programme, with a view to ensuring seamless execution of the initiative.

Speaking during the visit, Professor Aliyu expressed appreciation to the delegation and reaffirmed PTDF’s commitment to sustaining and strengthening the longstanding partnership with RGU, while advancing collaboration with CPESK on the Split-Site PhD Programme aimed at developing critical manpower for the oil and gas industry.

He further emphasised the need for continued institutional support as CPESK positions itself to address the manpower requirements of the energy industry, not only in Nigeria but across the West African region. The Executive Secretary also highlighted the importance of aligning CPESK’s academic curriculum with that of RGU, while exploring opportunities for student exchange programmes, virtual learning, and broader academic collaboration.
