PTDF ADOPTS NEW PERFORMANCE EVALUTION SYSTEM FOR STAFF
PTDF Executive Secretary, Dr Bello Aliyu Gusau, flagged off a One week Performance Management System awareness workshop for all staff of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund as part of the strategic readiness programme for the full adoption and implementation bythe Fund of performance based reporting system for staff evaluation beginning January 2018. The performance Management Process which replaces the annual performance evaluation report involves the strategic use of performance measures and standards to establish performance targets and goals. It sets out clear definition of tasks and job description, provides for continuous coaching and mentoring as well as identification of the training needs of staff.
The Executive Secretary said the full implementation of the performance management process in PTDF assumed a greater impetus and urgency with the release of a new strategic direction document which redefines the corporate goals and objectives of the Fund and sets out new strategic priorities for the implementation of the programmes and projects of the Fund.
He said that the new dispensation will remove subjectivity in the evaluation of staff, while career progression will depend on theattainment of contract based targets.
“Each and every staff will be conscious of daily, weekly, monthly and annual targets for evaluation. I want to see a situation where all staff have clear sense of work schedule and how that fits into the attainment of larger corporate objectives”.
